My story

ABOUT ALLIE WALTERS

I’m a Senior Product Designer with 15+ years’ experience designing and rebuilding complex digital products across education, SaaS, start-ups, finance, and non-profit organisations.

My work sits at the intersection of complexity, clarity, and human needs. I’m often brought in when products are hard to use, hard to scale, or hard to move forward. I enjoy working in ambiguous problem spaces, simplifying intricate workflows, and helping teams turn complexity into experiences that feel intuitive, accessible, and genuinely useful.

Over the years, I’ve worked closely with schools, parents, educators, and non-expert users, as well as product, engineering, and leadership teams. I’ve led design across both in-house and consulting roles, including rebuilding core product experiences, evolving design systems, and shaping products from early discovery through to delivery.

Alongside this, I was a founding Senior Product Designer on a complex, Canva-like design and content platform built from scratch. I helped define the product vision and interaction patterns, supported commercial growth, and built and mentored a small product team. That experience shaped how I think about product decisions, trade-offs, and building things that actually get used.

I’m comfortable moving at pace in agile environments, running qualitative research, prototyping and validating ideas quickly, and collaborating closely across disciplines. I also enjoy exploring new tools and approaches, including AI-enhanced workflows, to speed up design exploration and learning.

I’m particularly interested in roles where design has real impact, whether that’s improving education experiences, supporting innovation in start-ups, or helping organisations build products that respect people’s time and attention. I enjoy working with thoughtful, curious teams who care about building things well.
